In the Android world, you'll find several helpful and effective launchers, most of which will work on Android phones and tablets. Though you can customize the look of both lock and home screens, the two differ in function. A lock screen is a security feature that prevents unauthorized phone access. The home screen, on the other hand, is the starting point where you can access all the apps and features on your device.

For example, if you look at Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram every day, those are all prime candidates for a Social folder. Long-press one app icon and drag it on top of another one to put them together in a folder. From there, just long-press and drag other icons over the folder to add them, too. Go ahead and drag everything you use on a daily basis to your main page—just open the app drawer, long press the icon, and then drop it onto the home screen. If you usea lot of things every day, it may fill up the first page and overflow into a second.

It’s also one of the most complex and complicated. You can use this to make your phone do pretty much whatever you want. The downside is that it’s going to take you a while to get there. How to Find Home Screen Shortcuts on Android
If your wallpaper is busy in the middle of your screen, lay out your elements on the top and bottom of the screen. If your wallpaper features a character's profile on the left side, keep your apps and widgets to the right. Unfortunately, these rules don’t always apply. Some, like MIUI, even give you an indicator as to what page you’re on with the dots. I realize there’s going to be a lot of people who already know what a Home Screen is. Even if you are coming from iOS then you likely already know what it is as well.
One of the most loved capabilities of Android is its highly customizable home screen. You can customize your Android phone’s home screen the way you want using widgets, icons and fonts and even pin websites to the home screen. However, the number of icons that these themes can change is very limited (to Samsung’s stock apps) and this doesn’t allow for a very nice look in my opinion. However, icon pack applications that you download from the Play Store can support thousands and thousands of apps.
You can add widgets to your home screen by long-pressing on the home screen, and then choosing the “Widgets” option. This show you everything that’s already installed on your phone. When organizing my screens, I try to keep my most used apps to a two-movement minimum.
You can set a message shortcut for your favorite contacts with the Google Messages app. However, just like Google Phone, the app doesn't allow setting a direct message shortcut for any contact you like. But you can still use the Direct message widget by Google Contacts to achieve the same result. Use the "New text note" shortcut from Google Keep Notes.
